Feeling slightly lost, overwhelmed, do you struggle with anxiety and or anger? Is your mind on a constant marathon?

YES!! You are not alone, I struggle with these issues too, I am pretty sure that I am not alone in this. There are many of us who feel the same. We have this vague perception of materialist achievements and happiness quotient somehow believing one is related to the other, however we also know in hearts that that is not true.

My saving grace is my teaching especially when I lead Yoga Nidra and Shavasnas after aerial yoga classes, for in those moments I have to slow myself down to provide my students a deeper connection with themselves. Morning walks without playlists and phone are my my go to “meditation” methods.

Mindfulness Meditation

One of my favorite ways of describing awareness and energy is “where ever awareness goes energy follows” ~ Dandapani

Being mindful of awareness is the key. If we are aware of our thoughts, be still to notice them, let them flow in and out without belonging to them things become clearer, like sand settling at the bottom of water to provide clarity. Being aware of a thought seeing it as it rises we also become aware of our choices to keep it or let it go, with it also comes awareness of what happens when we choose to hold on to it or let it go, if we hold on to it we will also be aware of feelings that come with it, our energy is following the path of our awareness with our full consent.

There is a lot of power in this, a power that is our own BUT we have to be still to witness this power this SHAKTI within us, we need to honor it, and that is why DHAYANA/ Meditation is very important.

When you become aware you are taken out of habitual thinking and feel more alive, and present. You are connected with something deeper than thought, a sense of Being, aliveness.

There are so many ways to meditate, for the most part it is training the mind to listen to you 😊 There are moments that seem infinite in your life when you were present in those moments and when you think of those moments today, simple things like sunsets and sunrises, when you were creating something, that feeling of total entrance. That is when you were focussed, present in the moment and in that moment you experienced meditation <3

Meditation 🧘‍♀️ is now a science, no more woo woo stuff. I wish I had taught it to my children. (if you have children we have a kids program coming up that will delve into meditation)

Scientific facts about meditation and how it can help in our daily lives

  1. Reduces worries and anxiety
  2. Lowers stress levels, improves focus and attention
  3. Improves information processing and decision making skills
  4. Improves memory
  5. Decreases feelings of loneliness increases compassion
  6. Increases grey matter (who would not want that)

 

Getting Started that is the hard part

What do I do? Where do I start? What type of meditation do I do?

Simply start by observing your breath, really observing it 🧘‍♂️ , you could be sitting at a traffic light, waiting for your coffee, waiting your turn at the grocery store, simply watch your breath, notice it, does it travel undisturbed right down the base of your spine and then watch yourself exhale.
